A young man moved in next door to me. The man says his name is Nick Caraway, he's quite the character. Initially, I figured it was just a new groundskeeper, but he was dressed too classy for that. He's quite observant, as am I, and I noticed him watching me from afar while I stood on my dock after he returned from Mr.Buchanan's. Perhaps a close friend of Tom's? Perhaps a relative? He isn't all that intimidating in stature as Tom is, and Tom would not mingle with a lower class member of society such as Nick. If I am indeed correct in my assertion that he is neither a close friend of Tom's, nor a relative... that can only mean one thing. Nick must be a friend or relative of the lovely Daisy. I must get to know this man, for it may be my best shot with my beloved Daisy. I'll invite him to one of my extravagant parties, something I do not do for most, and further analyze the kind of person he is, while searching for information about his relation to Daisy. I don't feel as though I'm taking advantage of him, for he will gain many benefits from being around me. Nick seems friendly enough, and fun enough, to enjoy one of my parties to the fullest extent possible.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the invitation, Mr. Gatsby! I was truly honored to receive it. It upsets me greatly that people come to your parties uninvited and make no effort to see the host. At the party I would love to thank you in person and get to know you. You seem like a great man. The lovely Miss Daisy is my cousin. Even though Tom has been a friend since college, I was recently informed that Tom has been cheating on her. I no longer have the same admiration for Mr. Buchanan. Daisy is struggling with it all. Maybe you can cheer her up a little by inviting her to one of the parties to get her mind off it all.
